Le 26 avril 2007, l’UNFPA a lancé en Belgique un mouvement de prise de conscience, étendu sur un mois, pour donner l’élan à la Campagne mondiale pour éliminer les fistules. Les porte-parole Natalie Imbruglia et Goedele Liekens ont assisté à la manifestation initiale à Bruxelles et ont aidé à porter l’attention sur cette question au moyen d’une série d’interviews dans la presse et à la radio-télévision.
Les quotidiens nationaux Le Soir et Het Laatse News ont fait part de l’événement dans leurs colonnes. En outre, ELLE Belgique, ELLE België et le magazine de bord de Brussels
Airlines (b-there!) ont fait paraître de longs articles sur la fistule coïncidant avec la campagne de l’UNFPA. VTM, la principale chaîne commerciale de télévision du pays, et De Rode Loper ont assuré la couverture télévisée.
